Seiner nets $4,000 fine after guilty plea at Hoonah

On 11/9/11 Alan C. Jacklet, 47, of Carnation, Wash., and off the F/V Adirondack, entered a guilty plea in Hoonah District Court to one count of commercial fishing in closed waters. Jacklet was charged after Alaska Wildlife Troopers observed his vessel fishing closer than 500 yards to the mouth of a documented salmon stream in July. The incident occurred south of Tenakee Inlet. Jacklet was fined $8,000 with $4,000 suspended and placed on probation for one year. After troopers contacted Jacklet he chose to release the set and did not retain any of the fish.
