Charges referred from Haines poaching case

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Haines
Type: Commercial fish closed waters, unlawful possession of illegally taken fish
On 8/5/09 at approximately 0900 hours, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game Commercial Fisheries Division contacted the Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Haines to report Robert Collier, 26, of Lakebay, Wash., was observed commercial fishing in closed waters. Investigation revealed Collier was the permit holder and captain of the F/V Brown Sugar. Two Fish and Game technicians, while en route to sample fish in District 15-C, observed the F/V Brown Sugar actively fishing with his gillnet in the water near Berners Bay. Collier is being charged with commercial fishing in closed waters. All charges are being forwarded to the district attorney's office for prosecution.
