Dutch Harbor report

From the local police blotter:

Noise disturbance, Aug. 6 — Complaint about loud music in the Nirvana area. Officers patrolled the area without noting any loud noises.

Theft, Aug. 6 — Airline passenger reported that several valuable items had been stolen from her luggage on her Seattle-Juneau-Anchorage-Dutch Harbor journey.

Ambulance request, Aug. 9 — EMS personnel were dispatched to the South Channel Bridge regarding two wet men who were climbing out of the water.

Assistance rendered, Aug. 9 — Police were dispatched to the South Channel Bridge regarding two wet men who were climbing out of the water. The men, who apparently had previously advised an Unalaska Department of Public Safety employee that they would be jumping from the bridge again this year, had already left the area.

Environmental, Aug. 10 — Caller reported two "fishermen" clubbing salmon with rocks. Officers responded but did not locate the salmonid-slaying barbarians.

Assault, Aug. 13 — Officers responded to a reported fight amongst several intoxicated processing plant employees, and found one man with a recently bandaged laceration on top of his head. Statements from participants and witnesses led officers to conclude that no fight had occurred, and the injured man had actually cut his head when he stumbled on some stairs.

Public safety, Aug. 13 — Fishing company representative advised that one of their vessels was bringing to town a man who was having drug withdrawal issues and who was known to have an active warrant.
