Salmon troller was fishing illegally, troopers say

Type: Commercial fish closed season
On 6/15/11 at approximately 1624 hours, Sitka Wildlife Troopers contacted Darell Ness, 72, of Juneau, in Fish Bay near Sitka. Ness was operating commercial salmon troll gear when contacted. Fish Bay, which is in the Salisbury Sound area, had been closed by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game for the operation of commercial salmon troll gear effective 6/14/11, at approximately 2359 hours. Ness was given a mandatory court appearance on 6/28/11 in Sitka District Court.
