Bay troopers ticket five, seize setnetter's catch

Location: Egegik
Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 06/28/11 Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Forbes Martin Jonasson, 34, of Medford, Ore., on the F/V Shasta Lee for commercial fishing in closed waters in the Egegik District of Bristol Bay. An arraignment date was set for 7/15/11 in Naknek District Court.

Location: Egegik
Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 6/28/11 Taran White, 28, of Oregon, was cited by Bristol Bay Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing in closed waters in the Egegik District of Bristol Bay aboard the F/V Red Magic. Also cited was the second permit holder onboard the vessel, Kenneth Cooper, 28, of California. An arraignment date was scheduled for 7/15/11 in Naknek District Court.

Location: Naknek
Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 6/27/11 Bristol Bay Wildlife Troopers cited Thomas L. Huizenga, 25, of Bellingham, Wash., for commercial fishing during a closed period with a set gillnet. Troopers additionally seized 2,500 pounds of salmon taken after the period closure. Arraignment is set for 7/20/11 in Naknek District Court.

Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 6/27/11 Katherine Rose Carscallen, 25, of Dillingham, was cited by Dillingham Wildlife Troopers for commercial salmon fishing with a drift gillnet vessel 7 minutes and 30 seconds after the closure of the drift gillnet fishery in the Nushagak District. Arraignment is scheduled for 7/17/11 in Dillingham District Court. Carscallen also was cited for operating a vessel without an Alaska Department of Fish and Game triangle, which carries a fine of $100.
