Bristol Bay fishermen cited for various offenses

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Egegik District
Type: Waste of salmon
On 7/8/22 Sean E. Braman, 56, and Tammy L. Braman, 55, both from Wasilla, were cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for waste of salmon.

Location: Egegik
Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 7/9/22 Timothy Vardy, 67, from Stanwood, Wash., and Carly Quinn, 34, from Seattle, were cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing during a closed period.

Location: Egegik
Type: Interfere with commercial fish gear
On 7/9/22 Lucas Hancox, 39, from Gallatin Gateway, Mont., was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for interfering with commercial fish gear.

Location: Nushagak Bay
Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 7/9/22 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted David G. Schwantes, 50, from Aleknagik. Schwantes was cited for commercial fishing during a closed period.

Man pulled another fisherman's gear, troopers say

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: Interfere with commercial fishing gear
On 11/17/20 Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Michael T. Knauss, 69, of Sitka, for interfering with commercial fishing gear and theft. Previous investigation showed Knauss had pulled another commercial fisherman's longline gear set for sablefish on 10/8/20. Part of the gear was removed from the water and later returned to the victim. Fishing time, fish and labor were lost to the victim.

Kodiak man accused of interfering with gear

From the Alaska State Troopers and state court records:

Location: Kodiak
Type: Interference with fishing gear
On 11/15/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Robert Nelson Sr., 42, of Kodiak, at his residence. An ongoing investigation found Nelson had operated the F/V Katherine earlier this year and interfered with and retained commercial groundfish pots belonging to another commercial vessel. Nelson has been charged with three counts of interfering with fishing gear, a misdemeanor.

Seiner charged after 'incident' at Hidden Falls

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Hidden Falls
Type: Interfere with commercial fishing gear
On 7/10/13 Ralph "Wade" Roberts, 49, of Port Hardy, British Columbia, was issued a summons by Alaska Wildlife Troopers for interfering with commercial fishing gear. Roberts is the permit holder on the fishing vessel Ocean Ripple. The summons is the result of an incident that happened on 6/27/13 during a Southeast seine opening near Hidden Falls terminal harvest area. Arraignment set for 8/6/13 in Sitka District Court.

Three more Prince William Sound fishermen cited

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Prince William Sound, Falls Bay
Type: Interfere with commercial fishing gear
On 6/24/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cordova Post, received a complaint that a vessel was operating a drift gillnet too close to a set gillnet in Falls Bay. Investigation revealed that the vessel was the F/V Early Run operated by Melissa Craig, 42, of Anchorage. Craig was summoned to appear for arraignment on 7/10/13 in Cordova District Court.

Location: Prince William Sound, Eshamy District
Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 6/25/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cordova Post, observed the F/V Miss Margeaux operating a drift gillnet in waters closed to commercial fishing. Investigation revealed that the vessel was operated by John Bailey, 56, of Anchorage. Arraignment set for 7/10/13 in Cordova District Court.

Location: Port Valdez
Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 7/3/13 Storm Harder, 22, of Washington, was issued a citation for commercial fishing in closed waters, near the hatchery, in Port Valdez. Arraignment set for 7/25/13 in Valdez District Court.

Interference charged in Sitka herring fishery

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: Interfering with commercial gear
On 4/7/12 Robert Haltiner, captain of the F/V Signe Lynn, a registered tender vessel participating in the 2012 Sitka sac roe herring fishery, was issued a summons by Sitka Wildlife Troopers to appear in Sitka District Court for interfering with commercial gear. Investigation revealed that during the third opening of the fishery, Haltiner attempted to block and interfere with a seine vessel's set.

Florida man accused of interfering with gear

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Valdez
Type: Interfere with commercial fishing gear
On 8/17/11 Daniel Alley, 44, of Florida, was cited by the Valdez Wildlife Trooper for interfering with the commercial fishing gear of another. Arraignment scheduled for 9/22/11 in Valdez District Court.
