Child's call for help spawns big search at Wrangell

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Wrangell
Type: Search and rescue
On 4/20/16 at 1424 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report from the U.S. Coast Guard of a request for help on marine radio channel 16. USCG determined the call for help was from a young child who failed to describe their position. USCG sent a vessel and a helicopter to Wrangell to search for any boaters in need of assistance. Wrangell Search and Rescue deployed a float plane to search the area. All search efforts were unsuccessful in locating any boaters in distress in the area. AST has confirmed there have been no reports of anyone overdue in Wrangell. At 2119 hours all search efforts were suspended due to darkness and no boaters in distress were located.
