Two more Cook Inlet fishermen cited

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Kenai
Type: Commercial fish closed area
On 7/21/25 at approximately 1142 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were patrolling the Kenai Beach. Bruce Manley, 73, from Kasilof, was contacted commercial dipnetting. Investigation revealed Manley was fishing in a closed area. A mandatory court appearance was filed with Kenai courthouse.

On 7/19/25 at approximately 1442 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a patrol in Cook Inlet during a commercial fishing drift opener. Investigation revealed Perrin Dejax, 26, from Homer, was fishing in a closed area. A mandatory court citation was filed with the Kenai courthouse.

Three Cook Inlet drift gillnetters cited

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Kenai
Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 7/19/25 at approximately 1451 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a patrol in Cook Inlet during a commercial fishing drift opener. Investigation revealed Rickey Jewell, 74, from Washington state, was fishing in a closed area. A mandatory court citation was filed with the Kenai courthouse.

On 7/14/25 at approximately 1107 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a patrol in Cook Inlet during a commercial fishing drift opener. Investigation revealed Martin Hermansen, 58, from Anchorage, was fishing in a closed area. A mandatory court citation was filed with the Kenai courthouse.

On 7/14/25 at approximately 1056 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers were conducting a patrol in Cook Inlet during a commercial fishing drift opener. Investigation revealed Alexander Ladutko, 63, from Anchorage, was fishing in a closed area. A mandatory court citation was filed with the Kenai courthouse.

$12K settlement reached in factory trawl case

NOAA's Office of General Counsel reports the following case resolution:

• C/P North Star — Owner North Star Vessel LLC and operator Joshua Buchan were charged jointly and severally under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act with exceeding the maximum retainable amount of pollock. A $23,408 NOVA (notice of violation and assessment) was issued, and the case settled for $12,204.

Penalties issued in two federal enforcement cases

NOAA's Office of General Counsel reports the following cases charged recently:

• F/V Baranof — Owner Romanzof Fishing Co. LLC and operator Reynaldo Rubalcava were charged jointly and severally under the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act with failing to maintain a current NMFS-approved flow scale and video monitoring system for Pacific cod. A $15,176 NOVA (notice of violation and assessment) was issued.

• F/V Northern Endurance — Owner F/V Northern Endurance LLC and operator Michael McKee II were charged jointly and severally under the Magnuson-Stevens Act for discarding IFQ sablefish and rockfish, failing to report discards, and failing to submit Daily Fishing Log sheets to OLE. A $16,500 NOVA was issued.
