Sand Point cod fisherman cited on buoy violation

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Balboa Bay near Sand Point
Type: Unlawful gear
On 03/04/11 Kodiak Wildlife Troopers issued a citation to William N. Dushkin Jr., 28, of Sand Point, for commercial fishing a Pacific cod pot with buoys that were displaying more than one vessel's Alaska Department of Fish and Game number. Dushkin was given a court date of 04/12/11 in Valdez District Court.

Troopers ticket King Cove cod fisherman

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Unimak Island
Type: No pot tag
On 4/5/10 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Herman Erik Samuelson, 51, of King Cove, for commercial cod fishing in March in the South Alaska Peninsula state waters fishery with a pot that did not have a buoy identification tag. Arraignment is scheduled for 4/27/10 in the Valdez Superior Court.

Kodiak man accused of fishing out of season

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Kodiak
Type: Commercial fish closed season
On 10/19/09 the Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Brian Blondin, 22, of Kodiak, while conducting a commercial fishing compliance check aboard the F/V Sabrina C in Uyak Bay. Blondin subsequently was cited on 12/21/2009 for commercial fishing during a closed season, failure to mark buoys, and failure to register for area.

Craig shrimper nets $1,500 fine for gear violations

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Klawock
Type: Conviction — shrimping violations
On 11/18/09 Ronald Durgan, age 20, of Craig, pled no contest in Craig District Court to the commercial fishing charges of operating shellfish pots with no biodegradable escape mechanisms and failing to attach buoys to both ends of more than five longlined shrimp pots. Durgan was sentenced to a fine of $2,500 with $1,000 suspended.

Sitka Dungeness crabber cited for buoy violation

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Peril Strait
Type: Improper buoy marking
On 11/13/09 at approximately 1400 hours, Sitka Wildlife Troopers cited Reginald I. Baggen, age 31, of Sitka, for improperly marking Dungeness crab pot buoys. Investigation revealed Baggen was using buoys on his gear that were not identical as required by regulation. Arraignment is set for 12/1/09 in Sitka Court.

Your buoy marked?

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Cordova
Type: Gear Identification
On 5/14/09, Jose Rubio, 66, of Cordova was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Cordova post for commercial fishing on the Copper River Flats aboard the F/V Risky Business, ADF&G #64513. Rubio didn't have his buoy properly marked with his ADF&G# as required. Rubio's arraignment date was set for 5/27/09 in the District Court of Cordova.
