From the local police blotter:
Suspicious person, July 7 — Homeowner reported that an unidentified man appeared to be living in a nearby concrete bunker. Officers determined this was likely the case, but were unable to locate or identify the man in question. He has not returned.
Animal, July 8 — Caller reported a dead cat in the roadway. An officer responded and found no dead feline, only a motley collection of bald eagles.
Assistance rendered, July 10 — Harbor and police officers responded to the airport regarding a drunken man found sleeping in the terminal. The man was advised to return to his vessel, and left shortly thereafter in a taxi.
Animal, July 12 — Juvenile eagle squawking in caller's yard after crash-landing into a pole. Caller reported the juvenile eagle's parents were on scene in the yard.
Trespass, July 12 — Officer issued a trespass advisement to several men involved in a scuffle at the Bobby Storrs Harbor.
Trespass, July 13 — Officer issued a trespass advisement, per Magone Marine management, to a drunken man who had been fired and was no longer wanted on company property.
DUI, July 13 — A man reported that his intoxicated girlfriend had left his residence and was driving to another location. The girlfriend meanwhile reported to the police station and demanded that she be given field sobriety tests to prove the boyfriend wrong. Officers found no indication of impairment and subsequently accompanied the woman to her boyfriend's home to recover some property.
