Kodiak fisherman arrested on warrant

Type: Warrant arrest
On 10/5/24 Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested Cory Dehning, 37, of Kodiak, for an arrest warrant for failure to appear for the original charge of commercial fishing in closed waters. Dehning was remanded to the Kodiak Jail with bail set at $100.

Troopers arrest geoduck harvester at Ketchikan

The Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested Tremaine Lawrence, 34, of Washington state, on an outstanding bench warrant. Lawrence originally was charged with taking an overlimit of commercial geoducks and knowingly recording false information on a fish ticket.

Halibut fisherman arrested at Naknek

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Naknek
Type: Warrant arrest
On 6/12/21 at approximately 0946 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers based in King Salmon contacted Dan Pauk, 62, of Manokotak, during a commercial halibut delivery in Naknek. Pauk had an outstanding warrant for failure to appear on the original charge of seasons and bag limits for moose issued through the Dillingham court. Pauk was arrested and remanded for the warrant with bail set at $150 cash.

Man arrested at Naknek on warrant

Type: Warrant arrest
On 5/24/21 King Salmon-based Alaska Wildlife Troopers arrested 34-year-old Christopher Mitchell, of Washington, for an outstanding warrant at the borough dock. Mitchell's original offense was commercial fish closed period. Mitchell was remanded to the Bristol Bay Borough PD jail.

Shooting at vessel results in arrest

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Wadleigh Island
Type: Weapons
On 3/27/18 at approximately 0458 hours, Alaska State Troopers on Prince of Wales Island received a report of an individual shooting at a fishing vessel in the herring fishery near Wadleigh Island. Troopers responded via the P/V Interceptor. Investigation revealed Donald Austin, 60, of Wadleigh Island, had placed the crew in fear of imminent serious physical injury after firing multiple rounds with at least one round striking a fishing vessel. Austin was arrested on charges of assault and misconduct involving weapons. He was remanded to the Craig jail without bail pending arraignment. Alcohol was believed to be a factor.

Kodiak man arrested as he disembarks vessel

Type: Warrant arrest
On 1/17/16 at approximately 2229 hours, Kodiak Crime Stoppers received a report that Darin Wolfe, 49, of Kodiak, was traveling to Kodiak onboard a fishing vessel. On 1/18/16 Alaska troopers and Kodiak police officers made contact with Wolfe as he disembarked from the vessel. Wolfe was arrested on two bench warrants regarding his failure to comply with conditions of adult probation. He was taken into custody without incident and remanded to the Kodiak jail on $7,500 cash bail.

Mexican man arrested at Dutch Harbor

On 1/6/14 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers arrested Luis Miguel Valenzuela Montiel, 25, of Nogales, Mexico, for using false document numbers to receive an Alaska commercial fishing crewmember license. Arraignment set for 1/7/14 in Unalaska District Court.

Kodiak crewman arrested on warrant

Type: Warrant arrest
On 11/13/13 Kodiak Wildlife Troopers arrested Chad D. Carlson, 33, of Kodiak, on an outstanding warrant for multiple counts of failing to appear in court and petitions to revoke probation. Carlson was a crewmember onboard the F/V Provider at the time of arrest.

Speeder arrested on commercial fishing warrant

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Type: Warrant arrest
Troopers on 10/16/13 contacted Eric Haughey, 36, of Homer, for speeding. A search in the Alaska Public Safety Information Network revealed Haughey had an active warrant for a commercial fishing violation. Troopers arrested Haughey on the warrant and transported him to the Homer jail where he was remanded on $600 bail.

Wanted man arrested at Ocean Beauty plant

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Excursion Inlet
Type: Fugitive from justice
On 8/20/13 at 1425 hours, Victor Lopez Jr., 27, of Stockton, Calif., was arrested at the Ocean Beauty Seafoods plant in Excursion Inlet on a fugitive from justice warrant issued by the state of Alaska. The Alaska warrant was based upon an outstanding warrant issued by the state of California on the charge of dangerous drugs with a bail of $610,000. Lopez was located by investigators from the state of California who passed the information to Alaska State Troopers. Lopez was transported to Juneau and lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center on $10,000 bail.

Man arrested in Sitka herring fishery

Type: Warrant arrest
On 3/27/13, at approximately 1820 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Sitka for the herring sac roe fishery contacted Bryan Haney, 29, of Cordova, onboard the F/V Ace. Investigation revealed Haney had an outstanding warrant for his arrest stemming from a charge of commercial fishing during a closed season. Haney was arrested and transported to the Sitka Police Department jail where he was held on $500 cash bail.

Geoduck guy goes to jail

Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 3/7/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, cited Jeremy Thuet, 42, of Olympia, Wash., for commercial fishing for geoduck clams during a closed period. Arraignment set for 3/26/13 in Ketchikan District Court.

Type: No CFEC permit
On 3/14/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, cited Jeremy Thuet, 42, of Olympia, Wash., for fishing for and possessing geoduck clams without having in possession a Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission permit. Arraignment set for 3/26/13 in Ketchikan District Court.

On 3/14/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, arrested Jeremy Thuet, 42, of Olympia, Wash., on two warrants for failing to appear in court on the original charges of DUI and driving while license suspended. Thuet was remanded to the Ketchikan Correctional Center on $1,000 bail.

On 11/07/12 at 2141 hours, Thomas Widmyer, 41, of Ketchikan, was arrested on an outstanding warrant stemming from failure to appear for order to show cause with the original charge stemming from a commercial fishing incident. Widmyer was lodged at the Ketchikan Correctional Center with bail set at $100.

Wanted man arrested aboard boat at Craig

On 8/24/12 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Klawock Post, contacted Carl Liberty Jr., 22, onboard the F/V Ida Marie at the Craig harbor. Liberty had a felony $5,000 outstanding warrant from Sitka. He was arrested, transported and remanded to the Craig jail.

Three arrested after assault on fishing vessel

This incident started on the commercial fishing vessel Alaska Rose and then moved to land, an Alaska State Troopers spokeswoman told The Brig.

On 8/24/11 King Salmon-based Alaska State Troopers responded to the village of Chignik Bay for a reported assault. Investigation revealed that Christopher Jordan, 33, of Oregon; Lloyd Davis, 36, of Kenai; and Daniel Whittington, 22, of Oregon, all went onto a fishing boat and assaulted an 18-year-old male who was sleeping on the
boat. Jordan, Davis and Whittington were all arrested and transported to the King Salmon jail where they are awaiting arraignment.

Crewman jailed at Unalaska on warrant

On 8/5/11 Christopher R. Laier, 39, of Libby, Mont., was arrested by Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers on an Unalaska warrant. The original charge was for driving while license suspended or revoked. Laier was arrested off the F/V Frontier Explorer and booked into the Unalaska jail without incident.

Bristol Bay fisherman charged with assaulting crew

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Type: Assault
On 7/6/11 at 0553 hours, Alaska State Troopers were notified of an assault that occurred on the F/V Red Hook 2 in Bristol Bay near Johnson Hill. Troopers met the boat as it pulled up to the Peter Pan dock in Naknek. Investigation revealed that Peter Sommerness, 33, of Marysville, Wash., had assaulted two crewmembers on the boat while they were fishing this morning. Sommerness was arrested on two counts of domestic violence assault and was transported to the King Salmon jail.

Petersburg crabber arrested after court no-show

On 7/2/11 at 1045 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers in Juneau arrested James R. Seymour, 35, of Petersburg, for failing to appear for a 6/30/11 court appearance on an original charge of illegal storage of commercial crab gear. Seymour was remanded to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center with a $4,000 bail.

Kenai River dipnetter arrested, boat seized

Type: False license application
On 7/24/10 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Robert Dodge, 44, of Oregon, at the Kenai City Dock. Dodge was participating in the Upper Cook Inlet personal use salmon fishery (dipnetting on the Kenai River), which is open to Alaska residents. Investigation revealed Dodge provided a false name during the initial contact. Information obtained during the investigation lead to the execution of a search warrant, at which time Dodge's 2005 ATEC boat was seized and an arrest warrant was obtained. On 9/4/10 the Anchorage Police Department executed the arrest warrant and remanded Dodge to the Anchorage jail on the following charges: making a false statement on a license application, prohibited conduct, criminal impersonation and making a false report. Dodge's bail is currently $2,500.

Alaska Spirit crewman arrested at Dutch Harbor

Type: Arrest warrant
On 4/28/10 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers conducted a vessel boarding on the F/T Alaska Spirit at Unalaska Harbor. Contacted onboard the vessel was crewmember William S. Brown, 48, of Everett, Wash. Brown was discovered to have an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear at arraignment for the original charge of no valid operator's license. Brown was arrested and remanded to the Unalaska City Jail on $100 cash bail.
