Gustavus gillnetter wins one, loses one at trial

Type: Bench trial — commercial fish closed period
On 9/27/12 Winfield Jedediah Bickford-Harding, 36, of Gustavus, was found guilty on one count of operating a commercial gillnet during a closed period in 2011 in District 11B. He was found not guilty on a second count of operating a commercial gillnet during a closed period in District 15C. On the conviction, Bickford-Harding was fined $3,000 with $1,500 suspended and ordered to forfeit $863 worth of illegally taken fish. He also was placed on probation for 18 months.
