Troopers ticket two Bristol Bay fishermen

On 6/22/12 Tatiana Petticrew, 19, of Anchorage, was cited by Bristol Bay Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing during a closed period in the Naknek section. Arraignment set for 7/11/12 in Naknek District Court.

Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 6/25/12 Bristol Bay Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Gerald R. Johnson, 69, of Naknek, for commercial fishing a drift gillnet off the F/V Mighty Loetta in closed waters. Arraignment set for 7/11/12 in Naknek District Court.

Dutch Harbor report

From the local police blotter:

Drunk disturbance, June 17 — Three drunks walking in the roadway were contacted after officers received a complaint and found that one of the men had fallen over a guardrail and down a hillside. Two of the drunks were provided with assistance in the form of a taxi to their final destination. The third drunk was arrested on a number of outstanding warrants and was provided with transport to the Unalaska jail.

Animal, June 22 — Caller reported a dead eagle in the roadway.

Homicide investigation, June 22 — An out-of-state department provided information regarding a homicide that was allegedly committed in Unalaska several years ago. Under investigation.

Ambulance request, June 22 — EMS personnel provided care and transport to a woman who had injured herself when she fell between a boat and the dock to which it was tied.

Troopers seize heroin, meth bound for Cordova

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Type: Drug interdiction
On 6/21/12 investigators with the Alaska State Troopers, Western Alaska Alcohol and Narcotics Team, contacted 21-year-old Enrique Lino, of Las Cruces, N.M., at the Anchorage airport while he was waiting for his flight to Cordova. During the contact investigators informed Lino that he was being detained pending application for a search warrant. Lino attempted to run from investigators and then proceeded to resist officers as he was detained. AST applied for and was granted a warrant to search Lino and his baggage. Pursuant to the search warrant investigators seized approximately 2 ounces of black tar heroin and approximately 1.5 ounces of methamphetamines, which were destined for Cordova. The heroin has a street value in Anchorage of approximately $29,000. The methamphetamine has a street value in Anchorage of approximately $10,000. The value of both would be slightly more in Cordova. Lino was transported to the Anchorage jail where his bail was set at $50,000 cash plus a court-approved third party. Investigation continues.

Three Prince William Sound fishermen cited

On 6/15/12 Gary L. Gorla Jr., 49, of Cordova, was cited by Cordova Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing in the closed waters outside the Eshamy District. Arraignment set for 7/25/12 in Cordova District Court.

On 6/15/12 Marc W. Perron, 50, of Shoshone, Idaho, was cited by Cordova Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing in the closed waters outside the Eshamy District. Arraignment set for 7/25/12 in Cordova District Court.

On 6/15/12 Ronald C. Blake, 42, of Cordova, was cited by Cordova Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing in the closed waters outside the Eshamy District. Arraignment set for 7/25/12 in Cordova District Court.

Salmon troller charged with gear violation

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Ketchikan
Type: Gear violation
On 6/22/12 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, issued a summons to Thomas George, 56, of Klawock. He was charged with operating a commercial salmon power troll vessel with hand troll gear onboard. This charge has a mandatory court appearance in Ketchikan District Court.

Yakutat salmon troller fined, placed on probation

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Yakutat
Type: Update — commercial fish closed waters
On 6/14/12 in Yakutat District Court, Frank Deveraux, 63, of Yakutat, was convicted and sentenced to a $3,000 fine with $2,900 suspended and placed on probation for one year for commercial fishing in closed waters in Yakutat Bay on 3/22/12.

Authorities write 33 subsistence citations, seize 21 nets and 1,100 pounds of salmon on Kuskokwim

Location: Lower Kuskokwim River
Type: Subsistence fish closed period
On 6/20/12, starting at about 1100 hours, a joint enforcement effort between Alaska Wildlife Troopers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service officers was conducted on the Lower Kuskokwim River. During the course of the effort 33 citations were written, 21 nets were seized and 1,100 pounds of salmon were seized. All offenses were for subsistence salmon fishing during a closed period and subsistence fishing with illegal gear. The seized salmon were donated to local charities. All of the contacts made during this effort were nonconfrontational.
