Type: Commercial troll closed period
On 5/7/18 Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Jeffery M. Farvour, 49, of Sitka, for commercial power trolling during a closed period aboard the F/V Apollo. Farvour was observed by AWT commercial trolling approximately 2.2 nautical miles into the "Western Channel" troll area which was not opened by emergency order to commercial trolling. Proceeds from a king salmon taken in the area were seized by the state.

Two trollers cited at Sitka

Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 6/26/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Thomas D. Young, 45, of Sitka, hand trolling in the Redoubt Bay spring troll area, near Cape Burunof, while the area was closed to commercial fishing. Young was cited for commercial trolling in a closed period.

On 6/26/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Jorge J. Goryn, 30, of Haines, power trolling in the Redoubt Bay spring troll area, near Peisar Island, while the area was closed to commercial fishing. Goryn was cited for commercial trolling in a closed period.

Nash was issued a summons to appear in Sitka District Court.

Sitka fisherman cited for excess of troll gurdies

Location: Sitka
Type: Overlimit troll gurdies
On 1/18/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers cited Todd Smith, 45, of Sitka, after investigation showed he was commercial salmon trolling with more than six power troll gurdies installed on the F/V Ocean Roar. The additional gurdies were not in actual use at the time of the violation. Smith was cited with a strict liability offense and an arraignment is set in Sitka District Court.

Sitka troller nets $1,000 fine after guilty plea

Type: Conviction
On 6/9/15 Barry McKee, 66, of Sitka, pled guilty in Sitka District Court to one count of commercial trolling in a closed period. He was fined $3,000 with $2,000 suspended and placed on probation for one year. On 5/24/15 Alaska Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Ocean Gem operating power troll gear in an area not open to commercial fishing.

On 6/30/12 Caleb Miethe, 32, of Maui, Hawaii, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Ketchikan Post, for commercial salmon fishing with power troll gear in closed waters. Miethe was contacted fishing near Stone Rocks southeast of Prince of Wales Island. A mandatory court appearance was set for 7/12/12 in Ketchikan District Court.

Beal was contacted fishing near Stone Rocks southeast of Prince of Wales Island. A mandatory court appearance was set for 7/12/12 in Ketchikan District Court.

Trollers on three boats ticketed at Sitka

On 5/21/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Sachem actively power trolling outside of the Biorka fishery area. The captain, Younes Foroozin, 50, of Sitka, was contacted and issued a summons to appear in Sitka District Court.

On 5/21/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Mary Carl actively power trolling outside of the Biorka fishery area. The captain, Andrew Terhaar, 29, of Craig, was contacted and issued a summons to appear in Sitka District Court.

On 6/1/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers issued the captain of the F/V Spanker, 34-year-old Donald Yates of Sitka, and deckhand Erhen Oberndorfer, 33, of Sitka, citations for retaining two undersized king salmon while participating in the spring power troll season. Investigation revealed that on 5/18/12, the two undersized kings were located while the F/V Spanker was offloading its catch in Sitka. Both individuals were given court dates to appear in Sitka District Court.

Troller cited on false residency claims

Type: False statements
On 4/23/12 Daniel Brigham, 61, a resident of Rebersburg,
Pa., was cited by Hoonah Wildlife Troopers for unlawfully obtaining resident sportfish
licenses from 2007-10, and commercial power troll permits from 2008-11. Brigham
had claimed to live on his commercial fishing boat, the Camijo, in Sitka from
2007-11. Subsequent investigation revealed that he has only spent a few summer
months in Alaska each year before returning to his house and hatchery business
in Pennsylvania.
