Crabber cited over female and undersized Tanners

Location: Bering Sea
Type: Retain female and undersized crab
On 2/3/25 Jakob V. Anderson, 44, from Lake Stevens, Wash., was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for retaining female and undersized Tanner crab in the Bering Sea. Arraignment set for 4/29/25 in Unalaska District Court.

Two king salmon trollers fined

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Petersburg
Type: Sentencing
On 9/10/13 Harlan F. Freeman, 75, of Petersburg, pled guilty in Petersburg District Court to one count of retaining an undersized commercial troll-caught king salmon. Freeman was fined $500 and ordered to pay $150 restitution. The previously seized king salmon was forfeited.

Location: Sitka
Type: Sentencing
On 9/9/13 Denis R. Douglas, 62, of Soldotna, pled guilty to one count of possessing king salmon on a commercial troll vessel during a closed period. Douglas was fined $1,000 with $500 suspended and placed on probation for one year. Douglas was the permit holder onboard the F/V Splice.

Trollers on three boats ticketed at Sitka

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 5/21/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Sachem actively power trolling outside of the Biorka fishery area. The captain, Younes Foroozin, 50, of Sitka, was contacted and issued a summons to appear in Sitka District Court.

On 5/21/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers observed the F/V Mary Carl actively power trolling outside of the Biorka fishery area. The captain, Andrew Terhaar, 29, of Craig, was contacted and issued a summons to appear in Sitka District Court.

Type: Retain king salmon under 28 inches
On 6/1/12 Sitka Wildlife Troopers issued the captain of the F/V Spanker, 34-year-old Donald Yates of Sitka, and deckhand Erhen Oberndorfer, 33, of Sitka, citations for retaining two undersized king salmon while participating in the spring power troll season. Investigation revealed that on 5/18/12, the two undersized kings were located while the F/V Spanker was offloading its catch in Sitka. Both individuals were given court dates to appear in Sitka District Court.

Crabber in a pinch over undersized catch

Location: Dutch Harbor
Type: Possess undersized king crab
On 11/3/10 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Brett Alan Robinson, 50, of Mukilteo, Wash., for possessing undersized commercial Bristol Bay red king crab. Arraignment is scheduled for 11/24/10 in Unalaska District Court.

Crabber charged at Wrangell over small Dungies

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Wrangell
Type: Retain undersized Dungeness crab
On 6/20/10 Bradley Sobjack, 48, of Bellingham, Wash., was issued a summons to appear in Wrangell District Court on charges of retaining undersized commercial Dungeness crab. Arraignment is set for 7/11/10.

Undersized Tanner crab cost skipper $1,500

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Dutch Harbor
Type: Retained undersized Tanner crab
On 8-25-09, James E. Wolkoff, age 54, of Anchorage, pled guilty in the Valdez District Court to the charge of retaining undersized Tanner crab. Wolkoff, who is the skipper and permit holder aboard the F/V Zone Five, was fined $3,000 with $1,500 suspended and placed on two years probation. The charge of unlawful possession of fish was dismissed.

Petersburg crabber pinched on Dungeness catch

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Petersburg
Type: Undersize commercial Dungeness crab
On 07/31/09 at 1000 hours, Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Petersburg Post issued a summons to Thomas D. Parker, 44 yoa, of Petersburg, in the Wrangell Narrows near Petersburg for possessing undersize commercially caught Dungeness crab. An investigation by troopers revealed Parker was in possession of four undersize commercially caught Dungeness crabs out of a total of 44 Dungeness crabs aboard the F/V Mad Meg, resulting in 10 percent undersize crabs on board. Arraignment is scheduled in the Petersburg District Court for 08/13/2009.
