On 8/8/11 Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Thomas P. Huhndorf, 53, of Anchorage, to appear in court on Aug. 19 for operating a commercial drift gillnet from the F/V Andrea Grace while in closed waters on 7/16/11.

Troopers accuse Homer teen of driftnet violation

Type: Anchoring commercial driftnet to beach
Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to 17-year-old Iosif I. Martishev of Homer for intentionally anchoring a drift gillnet to the beach near Silver Salmon Creek. Martishev also was cited for using an improperly marked buoy on his fishing gear. Arraignment is scheduled for 10/19/10 in Homer District Court.

Type: False statement on crewmember license
On 11/28/09 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted 41-year-old Daniel Roberts, of Soldotna, during a residency investigation. The investigation revealed Roberts had purchased an Alaska resident fishing crewmember license before he qualified for Alaska residency. Roberts was issued a summons for making a false statement of material fact on his 2008 crewmember fishing license. Bail was set at $310.

Troopers charge Outside man on license violations

On 10/23/09 Herbert W. Freitag, 72 yoa, from either Oconto Falls, Wis., or Mesa, Ariz., was charged with five misdemeanor counts of personal use fishing as a nonresident and two misdemeanor counts of falsification of application for commercial crewmember license. The Soldotna Post had received an anonymous tip that Freitag was a nonresident fishing in Alaska as a resident. Investigation revealed that Freitag was purchasing resident licenses in Wisconsin up through 2008. Arraignment is scheduled for 11-20-09 in the Kenai District Court.
