From the local police blotter:
Theft, Jan. 21 — Department store staff learned from security footage that a man identified as Pedro C. Parra, 34, had stolen a pair of Xtratuf boots by replacing his old, worn-out pair with a brand new pair and then walking out of the store. Parra, who was found onboard his vessel, was charged with one count of theft.
Missing person, Jan. 25 — Caller reported a crewman was missing and had last been seen about 24 hours earlier. Six minutes later the caller reported that the crewman had flown off the island.
Drunk disturbance, Jan. 31 — Officer contacted a woman who was punching walls on various company buildings, and learned that she was upset because of some unkind things a friend had said about her. The officer advised the woman she could be charged with a crime if she damaged property with her blows. A comrade agreed to get the woman safely back to her own room.
Welfare check, Feb. 1 — Caller reported two males carrying an unconscious female into the hotel, and asked that officers check into the situation. Officers found the three in the hotel parking lot, where the woman could be seen laughing loudly just before falling on her face. Officers determined that the woman was not in any danger from the men, one of whom was her boyfriend and agreed to take her home for the evening.
Traffic crime, Feb. 3 — Officer advised a man who had driven to the Unalaska Department of Public Safety for a tour of the facility that he was not allowed to drive until properly licensed.
Assault, Feb. 6, 0012 hours — A bar patron was attacked by, among others, a man with a greasy ponytail who was allegedly concerned about an unpaid bar tab. The victim wished to pursue the matter only if medical treatment was going to cost him money.
Trespass, Feb. 6, 0036 hours — The victim of an assault was issued a trespass advisement, per bar staff, after he responded poorly to teasing about being beaten up.
Criminal mischief, Feb. 7 — An intoxicated Letipan Maycry, 29, was arrested on charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief after he broke the door to a stateroom, elbowed one man in the chest and attempted to punch another onboard the processing vessel Gordon Jensen.
