From the local police blotter:
Fire response, June 29 — Fire personnel responded to the wreck of the F/V Arctic Hunter, from which black smoke was emanating. Upon arrival they found that a salvage crew had ignited a small fire while cutting open the hull of the vessel. The fire had been extinguished by the time firefighters arrived.
Suspicious activity, June 29 — Caller reported a bus going around in circles at the landfill. An officer responded to the landfill but alas, found no bus drivers doing donuts there.
Suspicious person, July 4 — A man expressed concern about a female bar patron who first questioned whether he was a stalker, and then said she would "take him down" if he stalked her.
Assistance rendered, July 4 — Officers provided traffic control during the annual Independence Day parade.
Suspicious activity, July 4 — Report of flares being ignited and possibly landing on the roofs of nearby buildings. Nothing of that ilk was observed.
Welfare check, July 5 — Officers checked on a woman who was allegedly so intoxicated she could barely support herself against the side of a building. The woman, who was indeed inebriated, was found in the company of two sober friends who said they were taking her back to her boat.
