Seiner gets maximum penalty after court no-show

On 7/25/12 Wayne E. Alex, 74, of Juneau, failed to appear for his mandatory court arraignment on a charge of operating a commercial salmon seine during a closed period. A default judgment in the amount of $3,000, the maximum penalty, was entered against him. Alex was cited on 7/12/12 for operating the F/V Pacific Belle over the line during the purse seine fishery held near Amalga Harbor. He was given a court date of 7/25/12 in Juneau District Court.
