Dutch Harbor report, eagle edition

From the local police blotter, as reported by the Unalaska Advertiser:

Public safety, June 29 — A woman collecting her mail at the Dutch Harbor Post Office received minor scratches on her head after she was attacked by one of a pair of nesting bald eagles.

Burglary, June 30 — A ravenous prowler cut himself on broken glass after he smashed windows in both an office building and a car, in an effort to illegally appropriate a computer monitor and several brightly colored cotton bandanas. Officers followed a trail of blood and pizza crumbs from the office building, through a hotel lobby and into the elevator, to the man's room on the third floor of the hotel. Scott M. Boylan, 30, of Washington, was subsequently found passed out and bleeding in his bed, surrounded by colorful kerchiefs. Boylan, who was unable to explain what exactly had happened, was charged with burglary, criminal mischief, theft and criminal trespass.

Animal, July 2 — A pedestrian reported she was the subject of repeated dive-bombing attacks by an eagle but had received no injuries.

Assistance rendered, July 2 — U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service representative called regarding recent incidences of nesting eagles attacking people near their nest sites. No definitive course of action was determined but notices were put out to the public regarding the issue.
