Groundfish harvester accused of VMS violation

Type: VMS
On 10/21/15 Alaska Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Eros F. Kuzmin, 41, of Homer, on the F/V Navigator for failing to have an activated vessel monitoring system as required while participating in the state waters parallel groundfish fishery. Arraignment set for 12/1/15 in Seward District Court.

Fisherman charged at Seward with VMS violation

Type: No activated vessel monitoring system
On 2/2/13 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Seward Post, issued a summons to Michael Roy Stassen, 44, of Fountain Hills, Ariz., on the commercial fishing vessel Spectre for participating in a state and federal groundfish fishery without having an activated vessel monitoring system onboard. Arraignment set for 2/12/13 in Seward District Court.

Troopers cite three Cook Inlet fishermen

Location: Seward
Type: Failure to register for commercial fishery
On 2/18/12 Wildlife Troopers cited Nikolai Reutov, 43, of Homer, for failing to register for the 2012 groundfish fishery prior to participating in the fishery for the Cook Inlet area. Reutov had operated the F/V Pioneer in Cook Inlet waters without notifying the Alaska Department of Fish and Game prior to fishing. Reutov was issued a summons to appear on 3/20/12 in Seward District Court.

On 2/18/12 Wildlife Troopers cited Anatoly Reutov, 32, of Sterling, for failing to register for the 2012 groundfish fishery prior to participating in the fishery for the Cook Inlet area. Reutov had operated the F/V Last One in Cook Inlet waters without notifying the Alaska Department of Fish and Game prior to fishing. Reutov was issued a summons to appear on 3/20/12 in Seward District Court.

On 2/18/12 Wildlife Troopers cited Safron Kalugin, 25, of Homer, for failing to register for the 2012 groundfish fishery prior to participating in the fishery for the Cook Inlet area. Kalugin had operated the F/V Runaway in Cook Inlet waters without notifying the Alaska Department of Fish and Game prior to fishing. Kalugin was issued a summons to appear on 3/20/12 in Seward District Court.

Troopers: PWS cod fisherman lacked registration

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Cordova, Prince William Sound
Type: Groundfish registration
On 9/14/11 Efery G. Reutov, 48, of Wasilla, operator and permit holder on the F/V Sea Dancer, was cited by the Alaska Wildlife Troopers for operating groundfish gear for Pacific cod within the registration area without a valid nonexclusive area registration. Arraignment set for 10/26/11 in Cordova District Court.

Sand Point, King Cove groundfish harvesters cited

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Dutch Harbor
Type: Illegal groundfish pot
On 3/21/11 Danny Cumberlidge, 36, of Sand Point, was cited by Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing as the skipper and permit holder aboard the F/V Sea King with a groundfish pot having a tunnel eye opening perimeter greater than 36 inches. A court date was set for 4/12/11 in Valdez District Court.

On 3/18/11 Bill Sager, 52, of King Cove, was cited by Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers for commercial fishing as the skipper and permit holder aboard the F/V Pacific Quest with a groundfish pot having a tunnel eye opening perimeter greater than 36 inches. A court date was set for 4/26/11 in Valdez District Court.

Fisherman without permit card charged at Dutch

Type: No CFEC card
On 3/22/10 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Tiafala Manu Lagai, 33, of Seattle, for possessing and landing groundfish within state waters without having a 2010 Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission permit card. Arraignment is scheduled for 4/8/10 in the Unalaska District Court.

A 'tunnel eye' violation at Unalaska

Type: Illegal groundfish gear
On 1/24/10 Dutch Harbor Wildlife Troopers issued a summons to Zachary Matthew Nehus, 37, of Unalaska, for commercial groundfish fishing with pots that had individual tunnel eye perimeters greater than 36 inches in diameter. Arraignment is scheduled for 2/10/10 in the Unalaska District Court.
