Sitka herring seiner cited

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: Commercial fish closed period
On 3/30/22 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Mitchell Eide, 56, of Petersburg, after observing his vessel, the F/V Rose Lee, with commercial seine gear deployed after the 5 p.m. closure of the herring fishery. Eide was cited for commercial herring fishing in a closed period.

Seiners cited, salmon seized at Sitka

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: Commercial seine closed period
On 9/2/21 Robert Thorstenson, 57, of Juneau, captain of the F/V Vigilant, and Jason Moilanen, 48, of Petersburg, permit holder aboard the vessel, were found to be fishing in waters closed to commercial seining during a seine opening in Silver Bay near Sitka. Both men were issued a summons to appear on 9/21/21 in the Sitka court for commercial seining in a closed period. Wildlife troopers seized 5,170 pounds of salmon valued at $4,372.

Seiner cited, 83,282 pounds of salmon seized

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Crawfish Inlet
Type: Commercial fish closed waters
On 8/25/19 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, were patrolling the commercial salmon seine opening at Crawfish Inlet. The F/V Magnus Martens was observed operating gear less than 200 yards from an anadromous stream. Permit holder Robert Thorstenson, 55, of Juneau, was cited for commercial fishing in closed waters, and 83,282 pounds of salmon were seized.
