On 6/8/11 Alaska Wildlife Troopers on board the patrol vessel Enforcer cited Robert Bulard, 57, of Yakutat, for operating commercial shrimp pots that failed to have a legal biodegradable escape mechanism. Bulard was issued a summons to appear in Yakutat District Court on the same day. At the arraignment Bulard plead no contest and was fined $1,000 and placed on probation for three years.

Two fined at Sitka for herring pound violation

Location: Sitka
Type: Failure to mark herring pound
On 5/23/11 Alaska Wildlife Troopers, Sitka Post, filed charges in Sitka District Court against Matthew Carle, 61, Arlene Carle, 67, Jonathan Carle, 37, and Tony Sanderson, 48, all of Hydaburg, for failing to mark herring pound equipment as required by regulation. On 6/7/11 Jonathan Carle and Arlene Carle pled no contest. Both were fined $600 with $300 suspended and are on probation for one year.

On 6/7/11 Quentin Seager, 59, of Mukilteo, Wash., pled no contest to commercial trolling in closed waters on 5/13/11. Seager was fined $2,000 with $1,000 suspended and placed on probation for a year.

Haines man accused of cutting gear fined $1,250

Type: Update — interfere with subsistence gear
On 10/13/10 Brian A. O'Riley, of Haines, pled no contest in Sitka District Court to one count of criminal mischief. The charge resulted from O'Riley intentionally damaging a subsistence longline set for halibut in the Sitka area on 6/11/10. O'Riley was fined $2,500 with $1,250 suspended, ordered to pay restitution to the victim and placed on probation for one year.

Yakutat fishermen draws $500 fine, probation

Type: Update — commercial fish closed waters
On 4/12/10 Jonathan Pavlik, 28, of Yakutat, pled no contest to commercial fishing in closed waters stemming from a June 23, 2009, fishing violation in Yakutat Bay. Pavlik was fined $2,000 with $1,500 suspended and was placed on probation for one year. As part of the plea agreement, prosecutors dismissed two counts of providing false information on Alaska Department of Fish and Game fish tickets.
