Type: Death investigation
On 1/10/11 at 1642 hours, troopers were notified that Alex Martushev, 19, of Wasilla, had not returned from a visit to the Homer area and he missed a commercial fishing trip from the Homer area. An aerial search of the area where Martushev was last seen resulted in his recovery. There were no signs of foul play. Martushev's family has been notified. The investigation is ongoing.

Trident reports natural death to troopers

Location: Akutan
Type: Natural death
On 11/08/10 at 0353 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Dillingham received a report from Trident Seafoods manager John Babcock. According to Babcock, Tirso T. Tolentino, 50, of Hawaii, was found deceased in his apartment. Investigation revealed that Tolentino had been dealing with serious medical conditions and passed away of natural causes. After the investigation was finished there was no indication of foul play. Tolentino's next of kin was on scene and his body was later released to the family.

Death reported on fish tender near Ketchikan
According to Alaska Commercial Fisheries Entry Commission records, the person named in this item owned the F/V Pacific Queen, a 72-foot wood-hulled tender built in 1938.

Type: Death investigation
On 7/10/10 at approximately 1021 hours, the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan received a report of a death onboard the F/V Pacific Queen at Foggy Bay, approximately 45 miles south of Ketchikan. Investigation revealed 45-year-old Brian E. Sheldon, of Seattle, had passed away between the hours of 0700 and 1000 on 7/10/10 from what appears to be natural causes. The state medical examiner's office was contacted and an autopsy will be conducted. No indication of foul play was found. The next of kin have been notified.
