Goodnews Bay fisherman nets $1,500 fine

On 7/22/09 Peter B. Roberts, age 61, of Goodnews Bay, pled guilty in Bethel District Court to one count of commercial fishing during a closed period. Roberts was fined $7,000 with $5,500 suspended, three years probation and was ordered to forfeit the illegally taken fish.

On 6/25/09 Bethel Wildlife Troopers on a routine commercial fisheries patrol in Kuskokwim Bay, near Goodnews Bay, cited Daniel Smith, age 22, of Goodnews Bay, for no PFD. Bail: $150.00.
