Vessel operator charged at Ketchikan with DUI

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Ketchikan
Type: Watercraft DUI
On 12/1/23 at approximately 12:24 p.m., the Alaska State Troopers in Ketchikan were notified that the fishing vessel Silver Surfer had run aground near Gravina Island's airport. The boat's operator, David Vest, was found to be under the influence of alcohol at the time of the incident. As a result, Vest was arrested for DUI and remanded at Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Sitka troller charged with DUI

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: DUI watercraft
On 1/2/16 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Kelly Durgan, 54, of Sitka, during a routine commercial salmon troll boarding at Eliason Harbor. Investigation revealed Durgan was operating the F/V Satellite, a 45-foot commercial troller, under the influence of alcohol and prescription medications. Durgan was arrested for DUI and remanded to the Sitka jail.

Sitka gillnetter arrested, charged with DUI

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Sitka
Type: DUI — watercraft
On 7/28/14 Alaska Wildlife Troopers contacted Todd P. Wyman, 31, of Sitka, during a routine commercial fishing contact at Deep Inlet. Investigation revealed Wyman was operating the 36-foot gillnetter Crackerjack Mariner while under the influence of alcohol. Wyman was arrested and transported to the Sitka jail where bail was set at $1,500.

Vessel operator charged with drunk driving

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Ketchikan
Type: Driving while intoxicated
On 4/4/14 at approximately 1425 hours, the U.S. Coast Guard received a report of an intoxicated boater near Metlakatla. At approximately 1510 hours, the USCG contacted the F/V Cape Ommaney at Walden Rocks, Nichols Passage, near Metlakatla. The operator of the boat was detained by the USCG on suspicion of intoxication. Investigation revealed Richard D. Olin II, 32, of Metlakatla, was driving while intoxicated. Olin was arrested and transported to the Ketchikan Correctional Center.

Kodiak skipper charged with DUI, assault

From the Alaska State Troopers:

Location: Afognak Island
Type: DUI and assault
On 8/13/09 at approximately 1604 hours a crewmember of the F/V Neva reported the captain, Kyle Mead, age 32 of Kodiak, had assaulted him on the boat. Investigation revealed that the assault and injury to the crewman took place while under way near Afognak Island. Further investigation revealed Mead was also navigating the F/V Neva while impaired by alcohol. Mead was arrested for driving while under the influence and assault.
